Logo ideas and problems.

The images above were my initial idea for an animated logo for the production company I had created called Traffic Light Production. This idea was terminated after I was advised that the imagery created may suggest and glamourise the idea of smoking. I was going to have the title/production name appear in the smoke, and took several photo's to make a flip book looking effect making the images seem to be moving.

The above and below images show a drawing of another idea I had for a logo of a company supporting my film. Dark Heart Productions. I initially wanted this to be animated in the sense that the lines surrounding the robot were representing a zooming motion. I would create this full effect using photoshop combined with iMovie HD.

Distorted Taste Films.

This image above shows another logo idea I had created with interest of it becoming an animation also, however being more confident sketching and drawing my ideas for several aspects of my project I would have found some of my ideas difficult to complete. For instance I wanted this sketch showing my initial idea for "Distorted Taste Films" to animate by having the neck wave like a slithering motion of a snake, however with the time and technology available I felt it suitable to pass on that idea.

Testing.Testing.

I wanted to create the effect of the main female character, Jessica, writing on the lens of the camera. To successfully fulfil this effect, I thought of several pieces of material that I could possibly use to write on and that still maintain a realistic look to it. When attempting this task with a clear plastic sheet, curvatures in the sheet were visible from the light reflecting off of it, a similar problem with a glass window as you can see in the first image below. Using a glass window to write on proved more successful than the sheet.

editing

Getting used to using iMovie through the production of my visual pitch, above shows the use of iMovie combined with these of downloading and importing my chosen soundtrack for the pitch of my trailer. For this I explored the sound of Dubstep as I have explained in the music idea's section of this blog. An artist called Skrillex was imported into iMovie and edited in this program. Although it focuses on photo/video editing in the program, music adjustments and cutting can also be performed. For this I altered the sound levels of this track and cut it to fit the length of my pitch. I edited the visuals of this pitch by dragging the imagery from the far right of the program shown in the image, and placed them along the bottom bar. Where it says editing, I searched through the techniques available to emphasise the effect I wanted.

Where it says clips, themes, media etc, I clicked on editing and this gave a variety of effects for the videos imported into the software. as you can see in the image it has such things as a zooming motion to distort the image, I chose this to help portray the darker side of my trailer.

Soundtrack, Effects and the Talent...

Scotty Stacks - Kush (Freestyle)

The following picture shows the sound effect I am interested in using in my trailer, this will be at the point when the two characters are experiencing a trip and a high after taking drugs, this will then signify the change in "genre" as visually things will become more disturbing.

CRISIS!!

Experiencing some difficulties with the initial cast I had planned to use, this has effected my story line as these people are not reliable or available to participate in my piece. The story line is now that Jessica, the main female character played by myself, although still in a relationship with Dominic, has an obsession with the successful musician and artist Jesse J. This combined with the drug taking leads her to believe that she is the artists number 1 fan, which leads to an obsession of her becoming and living the life of Jesse. I feel that this is more appropriate and will be better to create as the issues I have experienced with other actors has proven they can be inconsistent, so by focussing on the main female character I have cast myself as, is more reliable, and in keeping with some of my initial ideas.

Animated Pictures in the form of a STORY :D

Casting Ideas

MAIN FEMALE CHARACTER.
Melina John is an 18 year old Drama Student from Langley Park School for Girls. This actress can adapt the behaviours of the character to fit the suitable portrayal of teenage drug abuse etc that I want to include in my trailer and can physically and verbally create the ideal character. Influenced by Effy Stonem from Skins television program, a TV hit popular to the teenage audience I want to attract. In Skins, Effy develops a mental disorder and experiences 'episodes' of struggle and discomfort in her life, she attends these issues through drug abuse, which in turn seems to heighten these experiences. This is perfect to represent the experience I want the main character to go through and has influenced my ideas, as an example to the way I want Melina to act when shooting for my trailer.

MAIN MALE CHARACTER.
Simon Murphy is a 20 year old male, interested in the performing arts. Inspired by the television program Misfits, Simon can portray this drug and sex driven character similar to Nathan from the popular E4 series. Although the characters Nathan and Dominic are in different situations throughout the story lines of both the series and my trailer, they have similar behaviours and attitudes which I find appropriate to relate to, Nathan is a great example of how I want Simon to act. Nathan represents a rebellious teenager who doesn't think before he act, enjoys drugs and alcohol and has fun, as well as setting himself challenges with the female sex. The actor Robert Sheehan has multiple characters throughout his career who have similar characteristics, for example he stars in a film called CherryBomb, where he also induces drugs and alcohol and chases a particular female.

Another MAIN FEMALE CHARACTER.
Chloe Byerley is a 17 year old ex Drama Student from Langley Park Girls School. She is very capable of manipulating the role of Robyn to suit her own bubbly personality, fitting to the idea of the characters behaviours, Chloe is very skilled at adopting the characters attitudes and portraying the teenage rebellion through performance, similar to the character Liv from a more recent series of Skins.

Script, Plan

Scene 1.
In scene one the audience will be introduced to the main character Jessica, her "party girl" attitude, and her love for her idol Jesse J.
Scene 2.
Scene two will consist of meeting Jessica, and her boyfriend Dominic, the main male character and how the two characters interact with one another, the young love they seem to share will be portrayed in this moment of the trailer.
Scene 3.
Their love then turns difficult as it is shown that their relationship contains domestic violence (this is influenced by Rhianna's music video and song "Found Love", this song portrays a couple who abuse drugs whilst together and have fun being high with their friends). This then leads to the idea of them both taking drugs with their friends.
Scene 4.
In this scene the third party is then introduced, the audience are then made aware of the love triangle between Jessica, Dominic and Jessica's best friend Robyn, another drug abuser.
Scene 5.
This scene will involve all of the characters friends and watching them in their weekend routine of drinking alcohol and taking drugs. This will be when Jessica's disorder will become more apparent to the audience as the distorted and uncomfortable obsession becomes heavier for the character. Leading into the horror aspect of the film.
Scene 6.
Her obsession takes over her life as the drugs are shown to make her believe that she becomes her idol and when people laugh or deny her of her dream to be like Jesse J, she turns violent, more so than in her relationship with Dominic.
Scene 7.
Scene seven will mirror the first scene, however this time around it will show the disturbing sides to Jessica's life (this idea of obsession was influenced by Ed Sheeran's music video and song "Lego House" where it follows the life of wat seems to be Ed Sheeran played by actor Rupert Grint, however towards the end of the video it becomes clear that he is obsessed with Sheeran and simply puts himself in Ed's position, like an overwhelming fan with an obsession).

VoiceOvers.
Jessica (Melina John) to last 10 seconds: 2nd November 2011, Hammersmith apollo, she reminded me that... *nobodies perfect* but nobodies imperfect...right?
